Couples Counselling
Relationship therapy allows you to work through issues in your current relationship. I have worked with couples on a range of issues including infidelity, communication, reconnecting as a couple and dealing with problems as a team.
We will look at how past relationships and wider systems may be affecting your current one, and explore ways of improving and strengthening your relationships in the future. I believe my role is to help you improve your responses to each other without violating your integrity, core values or deeply held principles.
The major aim of relationship therapy is to increase your knowledge about yourself, your partner and the patterns of interaction between you. Therapy becomes effective as you apply new knowledge to break ineffective patterns and develop better ones.
What can you expect in a session?
Each session will be 50 minutes long, and there is an option for an extended session if requested by you, at an additional charge. I recommend weekly or biweekly sessions. This is flexible and I can work around your requirements, this can be discussed in our initial session.
In the first session I will conduct an assessment with the both partners present, I will then have a separate individual assessment with each of you. Following this we can continue with both partners in the room.
Our sessions may give you a fresh perspective on an issue you have struggled and often helpful to know that someone understands.
You may have a secret that has been kept for many years without having the opportunity to discuss this with a friend or loved one. This can be discussed in a confidential space with myself knowing that you will not be judged.
Exploring an issue that has been troubling you can be freeing or difficult but ultimately knowing that you are supported through this will help get you to the other side.
